Silver and Paua shell(abalone) Desk Stand, Arts and Crafts Ca 1900, 230mm x 140mm, marked by Alfred Charles Akinson in four places.
( Atkinson was the son of Sir Harry Akinson, Prime minister of New Zealand 1883-84 and 1887-90.)He pioneered the use of Paua shall with silver and was a leading member of the early Arts and Crafts movement in New Zealand.
